Seven LA Galaxy players called up for international duty

LOS ANGELES (Tuesday, Oct. 5, 2021) – The LA Galaxy today announced that defenders Danilo Acosta (Honduras), Oniel Fisher (Jamaica) and Niko Hämäläinen (Finland) and midfielders Sebastian Lletget (United States), Jonathan dos Santos (Mexico) and Rayan Raveloson (Madagascar) were called up by their respective national teams for 2022 FIFA World Cup Qualifying matches from Oct. 4 – Oct. 13. Additionally, midfielder Jonathan Perez and LA Galaxy II midfielder Adrian Gonzalez will join the Mexico U-20 National Team for an international training camp in Marbella, Spain.

Notably, FIFA approved Julian Araujo’s one-time switch from the United States Men’s National Team to declare for the Mexican Men’s National Team. Araujo, 20, has tallied a team-leading six assists in 27 games played (27 starts) for the Galaxy during the 2021 campaign.

Acosta, 23, has played in two games for the Galaxy during the 2021 campaign. The San Pedro Sula, Honduras, native made his debut for the Honduras Men’s National Team in their 0-0 draw against El Salvador in World Cup Qualifying on Sept. 6, 2021. Honduras continues FIFA World Cup Qualifying playing host to Costa Rica on Thursday, Oct. 7 (5:05 p.m. PT), traveling to face Mexico on the road on Sunday, Oct. 10 (4:00 p.m. PT) and squaring off against Jamaica on Wednesday, Oct. 13 (5:05 p.m. PT).

Dos Santos, 31, has notched one goal in 20 games played (16 starts) for LA during the 2021 campaign. In 59 appearances (39 starts) for the Mexico Men’s National Team, Dos Santos has notched five goals and four assists. Mexico continues FIFA World Cup Qualifying by playing host to Canada on Thursday, Oct. 7 (6:40 p.m. PT), squaring off against Honduras at home on Sunday, Oct. 10 (4:00 p.m. PT) and traveling to face El Salvador on Wednesday, Oct. 13 at (7:05 p.m. PT).

Fisher, 29, has played in seven games (2 starts) for the Galaxy during the 2021 campaign, logging 204 minutes of action. The Portmore, Jamaica, native has made 21 appearances (18 starts) for the Jamaica Men’s National Team since making his debut for the national team in a 1-0 win over Honduras on Feb. 16, 2017. Jamaica continues FIFA World Cup Qualifying by traveling to face the U.S. Men’s National Team on Thursday, Oct. 7 (4:45 p.m. PT), playing host to Canada on Sunday, Oct. 10 (3:00 p.m. PT) and traveling to play Honduras on Wednesday, Oct. 13 at (5:05 p.m. PT).

Hämäläinen, 24, has made nine appearances (8 starts) for the Galaxy since joining the club on loan from Queens Park Rangers on Aug. 6, 2021. Hämäläinen has made eight career appearances (five starts) for Finland. Finland continues World Cup Qualifying when it plays host to Ukraine on Saturday, Oct. 9 (9:00 a.m. PT) and travels to face Kazakhstan on Tuesday, Oct. 12 (7:00 a.m. PT).

Lletget, 29, has notched one goal and four assists in 20 appearances (17 starts) for the Galaxy during the 2021 campaign. The San Francisco, Calif., native has eight goals and three assists in 32 appearances (18 starts) for the U.S. Men’s National Team. Notably, Lletget has played in 15 of the USMNT’s 16 matches across all competitions in 2021. The USMNT opens the three-match World Cup Qualifying set at home on Thursday, Oct. 7 against Jamaica. Kickoff at Q2 Stadium in Austin is set for 4:45 p.m. PT (ESPN2, Univision, TUDN). Three days later, the USA travels to face Panama at Estadio Rommel Fernandez in Panama City on Sunday, Oct. 10 (3:00 p.m. PT (Paramount+, UNIVERSO). The USMNT closes out the window when they host Costa Rica at 4:00 p.m. PT on Wednesday, Oct. 13 (ESPN2, UniMás and TUDN).

In 17 appearances (17 starts) for LA this year, Raveloson, 24, ranks second on the team with five goals scored. Raveloson has scored one goal in 12 games played (8 starts) for the Madagascar Men’s National Team. Madagascar continues World Cup Qualifying when it travels to face to the Democratic Republic of the Congo on Thursday, Oct. 7 (6:00 a.m. PT) before playing host to the Democratic Republic of the Congo on Sunday, Oct. 10 (9:00 a.m. PT).

Perez, 18, has made three appearances for the Galaxy during the 2021 MLS regular season, in addition to tallying one goal and three assists in 14 games played (11 starts) for LA Galaxy II in USL Championship play this year. Gonzalez, 18, has registered one assist in 18 games played (7 starts) for LA Galaxy II during the 2021 USL Championship regular season. The U-20 Mexico National Team will participate in matches against the U-20 sides of England on Saturday, Oct. 9 and France on Monday, Oct. 11 during the international break.
