Three LA Galaxy players named to USMNT roster for December friendly

LOS ANGELES (Monday, Nov. 30, 2020) – Three LA Galaxy players have been called to a 22-man training camp by U.S. Men’s National Team head coach Gregg Berhalter in South Florida ahead of USA-El Salvador. Sebastian Lletget, Julian Araujo and Efrain Alvarez will join the USMNT for a match at the home of Inter Miami CF in Fort Lauderdale set for on Dec. 9. at 4:30 p.m. PT and broadcast live on an ESPN Network, UniMás and TUDN.


Lletget has made 16 appearances and scored three goals for the USMNT in his international career, including a goal in their most recent match, a 6-2 victory over Panama on Nov. 16. Defender Julian Araujo will earn his second USMNT senior call up to a camp, having previously been named to the 2020 January camp by Berhalter. Alvarez has spent time with both the U.S. and Mexico youth national teams. Having appeared in the 2019 FIFA U-17 World Cup for El Tri, Alvarez would need to file a one-time switch in order to be able to play for the United States.


“Since returning to the field, the focus has been on continuing to build on our foundation and preparing the team for important competitions in 2021,” Berhalter said. “We have utilized these opportunities to work with our core group while evaluating young talent in an effort to strengthen our overall player pool.”
