Top 10 goals from LA Galaxy II's 2016 USL season

LA Galaxy II have developed a reputation of playing beautiful attacking soccer and that free-flowing style resulted in some remarkable goals.

As we close the book on the 2016 USL campaign for Los Dos, we present the top 10 goals scored by head coach Curt Onalfo’s squad this season.

The top 10 goals can be found below:

JACK MCBEAN vs. COLORADO SPRINGS SWITCHBACKS (3/19/16)

The legend of “McBeast” began on March 19 when the 21-year-old Los Dos striker muscled past a clingy Colorado Springs Switchbacks defender and scored a left-footed rocket that found the top corner of the net.

ARIEL LASSITER vs. ARIZONA UNITED SC (3/26/16)

Ariel Lassiter terrorized USL defenses throughout the past year and showed off his flair once again with his first of two goals against Arizona United. Rafael Garcia launched a looping ball over the top to free up Lassiter, who got to the ball on the run and then delivered a right-footed shot past the goalkeeper.

JOSE VILLARREAL vs. VANCOUVER WHITECAPS FC 2 (4/22/16)

Jose Villarreal provided a world-class finish against Vancouver Whitecaps FC 2 by burying a curling free kick during Los Dos’ 2-2 draw with Vancouver on April 22.

JOSE VILLARREAL vs. VANCOUVER WHITECAPS FC 2 (5/15/16)

Jose Villarreal delivered ANOTHER picture-perfect left-footed free kick during Los Dos’ match against Whitecaps FC 2. The rocket came in the 38th minute when the Inglewood native curled his set piece into the back of the Vancouver net.

DENZEL SLAGER vs. VANCOUVER WHITECAPS FC 2 (5/15/16)

Denzel Slager speed was unmistakable anytime he took the field, but his finishing prowess was showcased with his perfect hit against Vancouver. In the 84th minute, Slager pounced on a deflection off a Galaxy II corner kick and smashed a shot

JEFREY PAYERAS vs. TULSA ROUGHNECKS  (6/17/16)

Jefrey Payeras found the back of the net off a corner kick in the Galaxy’s 2-2 draw with the Tulsa Roughnecks, but it was no common header from a set piece. Off the corner, Payeras performed an acrobatic diving header to power his shot into the back of the Roughnecks’ net.

JACK MCBEAN vs. PORTLAND TIMBERS 2 (7/16/16)

Jack McBean lit up the USL in 2016. McBean displayed his immense finishing skills against T2 when Alejandro Covarrubias launched a long ball toward Bradford Jamieson IV. Jamieson then skillfully cut by a defender and dished his cross toward McBean who slotted it home.  McBean ended the 2016 season with 15 goals, which placed him second among goal scorers in USL.

ARI LASSITER vs. PORTLAND TIMBERS 2 (8/6/16)

Ari Lassiter returned to the score sheet with an impressive tally against the Portland Timbers 2 on Aug. 6. In the 15th minute, Lassiter got by Timbers defender Steven Taylor and launched a left-footed shot into the back of the net.  The “Goal Puppy” finished the match with a brace, but Los Dos fell 4-3 to Timbers 2.

BRADFORD JAMIESON IV vs. SWOPE PARK RANGERS  (8/27/16)

Bradford Jamieson IV scored his first goal of 2016 in Galaxy II’s 2-1 defeat to Swope Park Rangers. Jamieson’s tally occurred in the second minute when Jose Villarreal found his fellow Homegrown player along the right side of the Swope Park defense. The 19-year-old then moved down the right side cutting past former Galaxy defender Tommy Meyer before finishing from close range

ETHAN ZUBAK vs.SACRAMENTO REPUBLIC(9/17/16)

Ethan Zubak delivered one of the finest goals of his young professional career in the Galaxy’s match against Sacramento Republic FC. In the 44th minute, Zubak received a cross from Jose Villarreal in front of the Sacramento net and then played a masterful back heel in front of goal to score Galaxy II’s only goal of the contest.
