Hospital Corpsman Second Class Heather Lazo, a native of Bryan–College Station, Texas, enlisted in the United States Navy in 2019. After completing Recruit Training Command and Hospital Corpsman “A” School in 2020, she reported to Naval Hospital Jacksonville, Florida, assigned to Expeditionary Medical Facility Mike. There, she was meritoriously advanced to Petty Officer Third Class, completed trauma training at UF Health, and earned two DAISY Awards while serving on the Multi-Service Ward and ICU. She later became the unit’s Assistant Leading Petty Officer.

In 2022, she graduated from Field Medical Training Battalion West with a Navy Enlisted Classification and served with Combat Logistics Regiment 17, Combat Logistics Battalion 1, and Combat Logistics Battalion 13. While deployed to Marine Rotational Force–Darwin, Australia in 2023, she supported 3rd Battalion, 1st Marines during Talisman Sabre, earned her Marine Corps Martial Arts Program Black Belt, Fleet Marine Force Warfare Qualification, and was promoted to Petty Officer Second Class Hospital Corpsman.

She currently serves at Naval Medical Center San Diego as a Patient Advocate and Customer Service Representative, supporting the hospital and branch clinics.
