The voting for the LA Galaxy’s Goal of the Month competition presented by 76 Gas is now open.
Five goals picked from both LA Galaxy and LA Galaxy II were selected for the contest. Giovani dos Santos led the way with two nominations while goals by Jose Villarreal, Steven Gerrard, and Gyasi Zardes were also nominated.
The winner of the contest will join Jack McBean, who won the March competition with his finish against Colorado Springs Switchbacks.

GIOVANI DOS SANTOS vs. HOUSTON DYNAMO
Giovani dos Santos signaled his intent to take Major League Soccer by storm this by notching a brace during the Galaxy’s 4-1 win over the Houston Dynamo. Dos Santos’ second goal was a thing of beauty as Steven Gerrard sent fired a diagonal ball to the Mexican international who brought the ball down, shook off a defender, and fired his shot into the back of the net.
JOSE VILLARREAL vs. VANCOUVER WHITECAPS FC 2
Jose Villarreal provided a world-class finish against Vancouver Whitecaps FC 2 by burying a curling free kick during Los Dos’ 2-2 draw with Vancouver on April 22. Villarreal has two goals in five games for Galaxy II this season.
GYASI ZARDES vs. REAL SALT LAKE
Gyasi Zardes is hitting his stride heading into the month of May, and his strike in the Galaxy’s 5-2 victory over Real Salt Lake shows why. With the Galaxy down 1-0, Zardes marched up field taking on three defenders, before launching a right-footed rocket that froze goalkeeper Nick Rimando before sailing into the back of the net.
GIOVANI DOS SANTOS vs. REAL SALT LAKE
Dos Santos completed his brace in the 45th minute of the Galaxy’s win over Real Salt Lake when Ema Boateng made a heads-up play finding the Mexican forward, who fired a chip that sailed over a helpless Rimando. After the match, Dos Santos revealed that his goal brought back memories of his legendary goal in the 2011 Gold Cup final against the United States.
STEVEN GERRARD vs. REAL SALT LAKE
Steven Gerrard capped off the scoring against Real Salt Lake with an outstanding individual effort in the dying moments of the Galaxy’s victory. An Ashley Cole cross deflected into his path; Gerrard faked out a pair of Salt Lake defenders before marching alone on goal and beating the goalkeeper with a classy finish.
