LA Galaxy

LA Galaxy's busy slate of games rolls on | Weekly Schedule

The LA Galaxy (5-5-4, 19 points) begin preparation for a second straight two-game week today, with Colorado Rapids (5-8-1, 16 points) and Sporting Kansas City (7-4-6, 27 points) next up on the schedule. The Galaxy will take on Colorado Rapids at 6:00 p.m. PT on Wednesday, June 21 at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park in Commerce City, Colo. (Spectrum SportsNet, Spectrum Deportes). They’ll then face Sporting Kansas City at 7:30 p.m. PT on Saturday, June 24 at StubHub Center (Spectrum SportsNet, Spectrum Deportes).

LA Galaxy II (3-8-2, 11 points) return to business in Los Angeles this weekend, taking on Western Conference rival Sacramento Republic FC (5-6-3, 18 points) for the first time of the season. The two sides will square off at 6:30 p.m. PT on Sunday, June 25 at StubHub Center Track & Field Stadium. The match will be broadcast live on www.LAGalaxy.com/2 and tickets are available here.

The Galaxy’s roster has been depleted in the season’s earlygoing, with recovery continuing this week for Jermaine Jones, Brian Rowe, Daniel Steres, Baggio Husidic and Bradley Diallo. Sebastian Lletget and Robbie Rogers remain sidelined, and Giovani dos Santos is on national team duty with Mexico at the 2017 FIFA Confederations Cup in Russia. LA will regain Jelle Van Damme this week, who missed Saturday’s 2-2 draw with Houston because of yellow card accumulation.

The injuries and absences led to Jack McInerney’s first start for the Galaxy on Saturday, as well as an MLS debut for 19-year-old Hugo Arellano.

MLS Regular Season: LA Galaxy vs. Colorado Rapids – Wednesday, June 21

The Galaxy travel to Colorado for the first time since their 2016 MLS Cup Playoffs exit, when a 1-1 aggregate saw the Rapids advance after a 3-1 victory in penalty kicks. Both clubs currently sit on the opposite side of the red line now though, with the Galaxy in 7th and the Rapids in 10th.

The Galaxy will bring the league’s best away record to Colorado, looking for the same magic that produced a 3-0-1 record in a stretch of four road games last month. Romain Alessandrini leads MLS in away goals with five, and along with Giovani dos Santos, was the focal point of the Galaxy’s season-reviving run away from home. LA are 4-2-1 on the road this season.

MLS Regular Season: LA Galaxy vs. Sporting Kansas City – Saturday, June 24

This match will mark consecutive weekends at StubHub Center for the Galaxy, a place they’ve struggled to collect wins at in 2017. They’re just 1-3-3 at home in 2017, and will be hosting the conference’s best in SKC on Saturday. To the Galaxy’s advantage, Sporting are just 1-4-4 on the road this season. The two sides drew in all three matches they played in 2016, two of them at Children’s Mercy Park.

As part of the match, LA Galaxy will host their 4th Annual Pride Night. Tickets to Saturday’s match are available for purchase here.
