The LA Galaxy will light up Santa Monica in advance of the team’s 2018 home-opening match. On Thursday, March 1 at sunset (around 5:50 p.m. PT), the Pacific Wheel at Pacific Park, the world’s first solar-powered Ferris wheel, will be illuminated with the LA Galaxy logo and colors on the Santa Monica Pier and remain lit through the team’s contest at StubHub Center against the Portland Timbers on Sunday, March 4 at 7 p.m. PT on FS1.
LA Galaxy President Chris Klein, midfielder Jonathan dos Santos and midfielder Romain Alessandrini – along with Galaxy supporters, mascot Cozmo and the LA Galaxy Star Squad – will be on hand as the Galaxy light up Pacific Park on the Santa Monica Pier. Media are invited to attend the ceremony that will officially light up the Pacific Wheel as Klein, Dos Santos and Alessandrini will help turn on the lights to the Ferris Wheel by kicking a soccer ball into a net stations on the pier.
The Galaxy will officially kick off their 2018 MLS Regular Season on Sunday, March 4 when they host the Western Conference Portland Timbers at StubHub Center at 7 p.m. PT on FS1. Tickets to the opening match are on sale now at www.lagalaxy.com/tickets.
