LA Galaxy II will open the 2019 USL Championship season against Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC on Saturday, March 9 at Dignity Health Sports Park Track & Field Stadium. The 2019 season will mark the sixth year in LA Galaxy II history.
The United Soccer League announced all home openers for the 2019 USL Championship regular season, with the league’s 36 clubs set to embark on a 31-week regular season schedule that will open on the weekend of March 8-10, 2019. The season will start with a landmark opening day on Saturday, March 9 with a 17-game slate of action – the most on a single day in the league’s history. The full 2019 USL Championship regular season schedule with the entire 612-game slate will be released next week.
LA Galaxy II will compete in the USL Championship Western Conference for the 2019 campaign. As the USL announced yesterday, LA Galaxy II welcomes expansion sides Austin Bold FC, El Paso Locomotive FC and New Mexico United to the Western Conference for the 2019 season.
In the five years of USL Championship competition, Los Dos have qualified for playoffs in three of the five season played, in addition to a USL Western Conference Championship in 2015. A development pipeline for the first team, three current first-team players were signed to LA Galaxy after spending time with LA Galaxy II: Daniel Steres, Dave Romney and Hugo Arellano.
