LA Galaxy begin 2019 preseason training camp

LOS ANGELES (Monday, Jan. 21, 2018) – The LA Galaxy return to Dignity Health Sports Park today to open training camp ahead of the 2019 MLS Regular Season. Schelotto and his players are set to train twice a day for the majority of days in the first three weeks of preseason.


The first media availability of the season will be held after training on Wednesday, Jan. 23. Media availability will also take place following the morning session on Jan. 24 and 25.

New Head Coach Guillermo Barros Schelotto and General Manager Dennis te Kloese lead the LA Galaxy into the club’s 24th season, looking for a record sixth MLS Cup. This offseason, in order, the LA Galaxy hired Te Kloese as General Manager, re-signed Zlatan Ibrahimović, signed Juninho, re-signed Chris Pontius, selected Matt Lampson in the MLS Re-Entry Draft, named Schelotto as Head Coach, re-signed Dave Romney, selected Emil Cuello and Don Tchilao in the MLS SuperDraft, re-signed Emmanuel Boateng, re-signed Rolf Feltscher and re-signed Servando Carrasco.


A full LA Galaxy roster heading into preseason is as follows:


GOALKEEPERS (2): David Bingham, Justin Vom Steeg


DEFENDERS (6): Hugo Arellano, Rolf Feltscher, Tomas Hilliard-Arce, Dave Romney, Jorgen Skjelvik, Daniel Steres


MIDFIELDERS (10): Romain Alessandrini, Emmanuel Boateng, Servando Carrasco, Jonathan dos Santos, Giovani dos Santos, Juninho, Perry Kitchen, Sebastian Lletget, Bradford Jamieson IV, JoĂŁo Pedro (on loan)


FORWARDS (4): Zlatan Ibrahimović, Ola Kamara, Chris Pontius, Efrain Alvarez


Preseason competition will commence in February, with the Galaxy hosting three MLS in three consecutive Saturdays. The Galaxy will begin first against Toronto FC at Dignity Health Sports Park on Feb. 9, followed by Vancouver Whitecaps FC on Feb. 16 at Orange County Great Park and finishing with the Colorado Rapids on Feb. 23 at Dignity Health Sports Park. 


Schelotto and the LA Galaxy will kick off the 2019 MLS season when the Galaxy host Chicago Fire for the 2019 Home Opener on Saturday, March 2 at 5 p.m. PT. Tickets to that match are on sale now, available here.
