LA Galaxy Champion Project celebrated at Leapwood Avenue Elementary School

Champion Project Leapwood

Over 250 students from Leapwood Avenue Elementary School celebrated the launch of The LA Galaxy Champion Project by participating in a schoolwide soccer clinic on Friday, April 26. The LA Galaxy Champion Project strives to inspire and celebrate champions within the Los Angeles community by partnering with eleven local elementary schools – reaching over 5,000 youth – within a five-mile radius of Dignity Health Sports Park. This program aims to grow the game through soccer programming and leadership development opportunities while promoting health and wellness.

During this single day event, students were outfitted in exclusive LA Galaxy branded t-shirts while participating in soccer drills featuring appearances by LA Galaxy Star Squad and Mascot Cozmo. Students ranging from kindergarten to fifth grade participated in the celebration as they tested their skills in passing, dribbling, ball control, shooting, and scrimmaging.

The LA Galaxy will celebrate the LA Galaxy Champion Project with participating schools by honoring local Champion students and teacher at upcoming LA Galaxy home matches. Select students and teachers representing the LA Galaxy Core Values will receive LA Galaxy school materials, four tickets, four food vouchers and one parking pass to attend upcoming LA Galaxy home game where they will be honored pregame on the field.

Proceeds from the 2019 LA Galaxy Golf Tournament held on June 10 at Rolling Hills Country Club will benefit the expansion of the LA Galaxy Champion Project in neighboring elementary schools. To learn more about the LA Galaxy Golf Tournament, visit www.lagalaxy.com/golf.
