Match Report presented by Bob's Discount Furniture: LA Galaxy fall at home to San Jose Earthquakes

The LA Galaxy tried to take an early lead and batten down the hatches in the back in their California Clasico game against the San Jose Earthquakes on Friday, but the Quakes had the final word, coming back and winning 3-1 at Dignity Health Sports Park.

The win, coming two weeks after the teams' first rivalry game of the season, a 3-0 win for San Jose at Stanford Stadium. During the week leading up to this rematch, both teams had provided considerable bulletin board material for each other in the press.

The Galaxy got started early, as Rolf Feltscher acrobatically poked in a corner kick less than two minutes in to take the lead. But from there, it was nearly all San Jose, as they racked up a staggering edge in shots, 22 to 2, until Vakoscored the equalizer with a low shot from distance nestled inside the post right after the hour mark.

Moments later, Danny Hoesen came off the bench for the Earthquakes and got the go-ahead strike two minutes after entering. Jackson Yueill scored a late insurance goal with a lobbed bomb teed up off a rebounded save.
