LA Galaxy prepare for busy two-game week | Weekly Schedule

LOS ANGELES (Monday, Aug. 19, 2019) – The LA Galaxy will feature in two fixtures this weekend, starting with the Leagues Cup semifinal against Cruz Azul F.C. at 7:30 p.m. PT on Tuesday, Aug. 19 at Dignity Health Sports Park (ESPN2, TUDN). This weekend, the Galaxy (12-11-2, 38 points) will face LAFC (18-3-4, 58 points) in the Heineken Rivalry Week finale at 7:30 p.m. PT on Sunday, Aug. 25 on FS1 and Fox Deportes.


The LA Galaxy return to Leagues Cup action after taking down Club Tijuana in a penalty shootout on July 23 in Los Angeles. Emmanuel Boateng and Dave Romney scored in the 2-2 draw, while Matt Lampson made three penalty kick saves in the shootout to secure the victory. The winner of LA Galaxy/Cruz Azul F.C. will face the winner of Club América/Tigres UANL. The Leagues Cup Championship will be played on Wednesday, Sept. 18 at Sam Boyd Stadium in Las Vegas.

On Sunday, the LA Galaxy will face LAFC in the week’s final Heineken Rivalry Week match. The Galaxy are an undefeated 2-0-2 against LAFC in their two years of competition, outscoring LAFC 10-8. Sunday will mark the Galaxy’s second trip to Banc of California Stadium. In the first trip, the two sides drew 2-2 as LA Galaxy scored two goals in the game’s final ten minutes to earn a comeback draw.


The 2019 Watch Party series presented by Modelo will resume this weekend, with the LA Galaxy hosting an LA Galaxy vs. LAFC watch party in Legends Plaza at Dignity Health Sports Park. The event is free and open to the public. Free parking and drink and food specials are included.

Over the weekend, LA drew 2-2 with Seattle Sounders FC at Dignity Health Sports Park. Zlatan Ibrahimović scored twice in the match and was named MLS Player of the Week for his performance.
