LAFC are the runaway favorites to win the Supporters' Shield, but they have yet to beat the LA Galaxy. They'll look to do so in a tasty Heineken Rivalry Week tilt at Banc of California Stadium Sunday night.

LAFC (19-3-4) cruised to a 4-0 win over the San Jose Earthquakes in their other Heineken Rivalry Week game Wednesday night at the Banc. Diego Rossi opened the scoring in the 7th minute and Carlos Vela tacked on two more, including a remarkable knifing run through the Quakes defense for his MLS-leading 26th goal of the season. Josh Perez capped the lopsided victory in the 81st minute as LAFC extended their winning streak to five matches.

A rotated Galaxy squad fell to Cruz Azul, 2-1, in the semifinals of the inaugural Leagues Cup Tuesday night at Dignity Health Sports Complex. La Maquina raced in front on a goal by Jose Maduena after four minutes. Emil Cuello leveled for the Galaxy in the 37th minute, but Mexican international Orbelin Pineda struck for the winner two minutes after the restart.

This is the second meeting this season with the Galaxy winning 3-2 July 19. After Vela opened the scoring in the 4th minute, Zlatan Ibrahimovic leveled with the first of three consecutive goals. Vela netted his second deep in second-half stoppage time, but the Galaxy would take all three points and the bragging rights.
