The LA Galaxy are looking to wrap up a home game in the Audi 2019 MLS Cup Playoffs when they host a Houston Dynamo team hoping to end a disappointing season on a high note in a Decision Day presented by AT&T clash at BBVA Stadium.
The Dynamo (11-18-4) suffered a second consecutive loss Sunday, losing to Real Salt Lake, 2-1, at Rio Tinto Stadium. Tomas Martinez canceled Corey Baird's opening-minute goal with a 32nd-minute equalizer. But Jefferson Savarino scored the decisive goal in the 75th minute. Tommy McNamara had a goal called back following Video Review and another attempt hit the post.
The Galaxy (16-14-3) saw a three-match losing streak snapped with a stunning 4-3 home loss to the Vancouver Whitecaps Sunday. Zlatan Ibrahimovic pulled within a goal of Golden Boot leader Carlos Vela with a 23rd-minute equalizer. Uriel Antuna and Chris Pontius also scored tying goals, but Michaell Chirinos scored in second-half stoppage time to secure the road win for the Whitecaps.
In the first meeting this season April 20 in Carson, Ibrahimovic and Alberth Elis exchanged penalty kicks before Diego Polenta scored the winner two minutes from full time.
