LA Galaxy Foundation host LA Galaxy Champion Project School Dolores Street Elementary for a Protect the Pitch field trip

On Thursday, December 5, the LA Galaxy Foundation continued its “Protect the Pitch” initiative by hosting forty-five students from Dolores Street Elementary School for a Protect the Pitch field trip at Dignity Health Sports Park. Students started the field trip with a stadium tour that visited the press box, main soccer pitch and ended in the Galaxy Garden.

Chris Hybl, LA Galaxy Digital Media Manager and garden enthusiast, walked the students through the garden and shared gardening tips with the students. Students were then welcomed to cut and take home fresh mint from the garden.

After wrapping up in the garden, students were excited to meet their Garden School Foundation instructor, Rachel Black, and begin their cooking class. During the course, students made a raw apple crisp to kick off the Holiday season. Apples, dates, dried cherries, and lots of smiles made this delicious new recipe one they would share with their families at home. All students received an early Holiday gift from the Galaxy, including a backpack, notebook, water bottle, foam finger, and hat before heading back to school.

The LA Galaxy Foundation’s Protect the Pitch Initiative continues to provide the opportunity for students to visit Dignity Health Sports Park and learn more about how the LA Galaxy positively impacts the environment.
