Julian Araujo has a new number for the 2021 MLS season and it has deep meaning for the LA Galaxy fullback.
The 19-year-old, who wore No. 22 in his first two seasons with the Galaxy, tweeted a picture of his new No. 2, which he dedicated to close friend Michael Taylor, who died in 2018.
He learned of his death as he was heading to Spain to train with Barcelona's famed La Masia, it's part of the tragedy that has helped shape his burgeoning career.
Araujo is coming off a big 2020 in which he started all 17 regular season contests he played in, scored his first MLS goal and earned his first cap for the US men's national team.
