Juninho, who played 189 times for the LA Galaxy, the second-most of any midfielder for the club behind only Mauricio Cienfuegos (206), serves as the club's Senior Advisor to the General Manager after being promoted from the Galaxy's coaching staff in the 2024 MLS Cup-winning season. The Brazilian retired from professional play at 31 years old in 2020 after making a second stint with the Galaxy following his three MLS Cup wins in 2011, 2012 and 2014 as a key player in the central midfield.

During his professional career in MLS with the LA Galaxy and Chicago Fire, Juninho made 210 total appearances with 197 starts while scoring 19 goals and recording 25 assists during over 17,000 minutes. Juninho originally joined the Galaxy on loan from São Paolo at the beginning of the 2010 season.
