LA Galaxy II (9-5-9, 36 points) are on the road for their third straight away contest when they travel to take on Swope Park Rangers (8-9-6, 30 points) at Children’s Mercy Victory Field at Swope Soccer Village in Kansas City, Mo. on Saturday, August 27. The match kicks off at 5:30 p.m. PT and will be streamed live on www.lagalaxy.com/2.
Heading into the match with a four-game winless streak, their longest of the season, LA will be looking for three points to put them back in the race for the USL Western Conference’s top spot. All-time, LA Galaxy II have never gone five consecutive games without a win.
Their opponent, meanwhile, sits ninth, just one spot off playoff inclusion. Swope Park are unbeaten at home in the last month while going 2-1-2 in their last five games. Forward Mark Anthony Gonzalez leads the team with seven goals on the season, while forward Kristopher Tyrpak and forward Daniel Salloi have each added four. Midfielder Kevin Oliveira leads all teammates with four assists.
Despite being the Western Conference’s highest-scoring team, LA has been shutout in three of their last four games. Helping to resolve that issue will be Adonis Amaya, who is set to return to the pitch for Los Dos after suffering a two-game suspension. Missing from the match will be Hugo Arellano and Head Coach Curt Onalfo. In separate events, both were sent off in the team’s last outing.
LAST MATCH
Orange County Blues FC 2 | LA Galaxy II 0: LA Galaxy II fell to Orange County Blues FC 2-0 at Anteater Stadium in the two sides’ fourth meeting of the season on Aug. 20. An early red card to newcomer Hugo Arellano set LA back early, as they conceded a goal shortly after.
Los Dos entered halftime down 1-0 but found hope in the second half when OC Blues FC saw their side reduced to 10 men in the 67th minute after Oriel Cortes was sent off to level the two sides at 10 men each. However, the home side found the next goal when they doubled the score in the 74th minute with a low-driving ball that found its way past Lopez to make the score 2-0. On the year, Los Dos have now gone 1-2-1 against their Southern California Rivals.
Swope Park Rangers 1 | Saint Louis FC 1: Vince Cicciarelli put Saint Louis ahead in the 80th minute but Akeil Barrett, making his Rangers debut, knocked home the equalizing goal in the 89th minute as the two sides split the points and the season series 1-1-2.
